As Assistant Head Gardener, you’ll report directly to the Head Gardener and assist in the planning and maintenance of landscapes. In addition, you’ll assist the Head Gardener with providing day-to-day leadership/oversight of the landscaping team.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Assistant Head Gardener include:
• Assisting in planning and maintenance of existing landscapes, including 4 water features, rose garden, annual beds, and over 20 acres of cultivated landscape
• Conducting walk-throughs and visually assessing the condition of existing landscapes
• Assisting in installation and/or repairs of irrigation system
• Planting trees and shrubs, and some hardscape
• Supervising landscaping team, including planning daily work activities and monitoring the work being done
• Ensuring all projects are completed on time and according to specifications
Job Requirements
• National Diploma in Horticulture and/or a minimum of 3 years of related field experience
• Working knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in general maintenance of landscapes, including irrigation system repair
• Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise employees
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as, on a team
• Strong guest service orientation and excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) are required
• Multiple language abilities preferred, fluency in English required and Spanish desired
• Physical requirements include: ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work outside in Estes Park, CO in all types of conditions, including heat and cold weather
