Located in the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary features a rich maritime history, authentic Art Deco décor, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Long Beach city skyline. At the time of her maiden voyage in May of 1936, she was considered the grandest ocean liner ever built. Today the Queen Mary is one of Los Angeles’ major attractions, drawing visitors from around the world. The Queen Mary boasts 346 staterooms spanning three decks including nine full suites which have hosted a variety of colorful characters from World War II leaders to British royalty and the stars of Hollywood’s golden era. The ship also features 80,000 square feet of event space in 17 remarkable Art Deco salons as well as a tri-level, 45,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall; signature restaurants including the award-winning Sir Winston’s and Chelsea Chowder House & Bar; and a selection of retail shops. History buffs enjoy the ship’s museum and Behind the Scenes tour, while guests of all ages love the Ghosts and Legends tour and special events such as Scottish Festival, Dark Harbor, and concerts that are hosted on or by the ship throughout the year.

About This Opportunity:
We are currently looking for an IT Specialist to join our Information Technology team at the legendary Queen Mary. As an IT Specialist you’ll be responsible for the assessment, troubleshooting, and implementation of IT systems that are unique to the Queen Mary’s infrastructure and for troubleshooting and resolving computer software and hardware issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities of an IT Technician include:
• SYSTEM SUPPORT (75%) Position requires in-depth technical knowledge of the Property’s infrastructure, network, software, and hardware, including POS and PMS systems. Advanced analytical, troubleshooting and design skills for technology support of entertainment events. Provides support and training to junior technicians. May coordinate contracted resources for computer and networking administration needs. Candidate will provide Help Desk support for computer and mobile end-users. Particular emphasis will be on supporting computers in a Windows Active Directory domain. Will do this through the use and management of IT ticket tracking system. Will be a primary responder to all tickets and will be responsible for meeting established Service Level Agreements in this area. Offers help in a way that further educates the end-user, elevates overall technology acumen, and leads to a less “help desk reliant” workforce.
• STRATEGY/ PROJECTS (15%): Additionally, will help department to identify changes and techniques that may improve efficiency, especially in the areas of the Property’s events, conventions, and attractions. Researches new technologies, attends conferences, stays current on emerging technology, recommends, designs and implements innovative, cost-effective technology solutions for Evolution Hotels.
• PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (5%): Utilizes the long term goal planning to prioritize strategies and tactics and coordinate efforts to exceed personal goals and those of the department.
• REMOTE SUPPORT (5%): May be required by Corporate to travel periodically to support hotel takeovers and divestitures. Work may include: racking and stacking network and server equipment; toning and terminating cabling; creating new user accounts; joining computers to domains, technical training.

Job Requirements:
The ideal IT Technician candidate will have a computer software and hardware background, exceptional communication skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange knowledge, including Windows authentication to AD, ECP, Windows file and print sharing required
• Printer / peripheral device troubleshooting skills
• Networking experience with TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
• Networking troubleshooting experience
• Understanding of virtual machines
• NAS experience
• Experience with wireless peripherals/devices especially mobile devices (Andriod, Iphones, IPads, POS, etc.)
• Strong time management/organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve computer software and hardware issues in a timely and efficient manner
• Knowledge of how PCs, servers, and peripherals work in a networked environment
• Ability to troubleshoot and identify network related issues
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, squat and/or stoop for extended periods of time
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with all levels of the organization using a positive, clear speaking voice
• Must have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends

Preferred & Required Experience:
• Minimum 2 years in an IT position end-user support and administering a Microsoft Windows Domain and virtual environments
• Usage of helpdesk application software a plus.
• BS degree in related field or equivalent experience mandatory
• CompTIA, VMware, Cisco, and/or Microsoft certifications considered
• Hospitality experienced preferred
