Legal Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT (defines the major functions/purpose of the position)
The Legal Assistant or Paralegal is responsible for supporting the Legal Department, managing business licenses, annual reports, contract and document administration, and resolving routine legal issues. Assist in drafting, managing and organizing various documents related to corporate transactions. The Legal Assistant will perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintenance of business licenses for boutiques and outlets
• Filing/management of Annual Reports, and formation and dissolution of corporate entities
• Contract administration: drafting, redlining, coordinating signature, tracking, scanning, faxing, e-mailing, and printing contracts for legal processing
• Trademark administration: correspond with outside counsel regarding trademark renewals, manage intellectual property portfolio and trademarks throughout lifecycle
• Administrative support for corporate counsel
• Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents and accompanying correspondence.
• Maintenance of corporate subsidiary books and records
• General transactional work in commercial transactions, real estate and litigation needs
• Assistance with litigation matters
• Track and process legal department invoices
• Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence, calendaring important dates, and reading and routing incoming mail
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary
• Willingness to assist in supervision and training of legal interns when needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Education/Experience:
• 3-5 years in-house legal department or in a corporate law environment
• 4-year degree required
• Notary a plus
Paralegal experience a plus
