Senior Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT (defines the major functions/purpose of the position)
The senior accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for the cycle of accounting tasks for assigned stores from sales audit through month end financials statements, budgets and audits, commissions, inventory reconciliations, and other reporting and projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct support monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close process.
• Prepare journal entries on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Ensures proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
• Areas of focus includes fixed assets, capital expenditures, cash and treasuring reporting, and property tax.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Oversee the general ledger and sub-ledger and ensures items are reconciled and resolved.
• Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to improve accounting processes and the workflow of the department.
• Work with local as well as international teams to ensure consistency in processes globally.
• Assist in working with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audit.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly tax preparation.
• Assist Finance team with ad hoc projects as necessary.

Education/Experience:
• 6+ years accounting experience in a large corporation environment; apparel highly preferred
• Experience in the retail industry helpful
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• MBA/CPA highly preferred
• Advanced skills with both Excel and Word
