Senior Financial Planning Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT
Senior analyst supports the Design and Development depts. by providing information and financial analysis of Gross Margin and SG&A expenses and other information relevant to ensuring the company’s profit objectives are met. The analyst is the main financial partner for the Design and Production depts and is responsible for providing monthly spend and cost production results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support delivery of a robust annual budgeting and forecasting process for the Design and Development departments.
• Prepares the month end reporting which provides detail on the monthly and year-to-date results compared to Budget/Forecast.
• Support introduction of new regular reporting / processes around product profitability.
• Provides resource optimization recommendations to maximize profitability.
• Support the development and implementation financial goals metrics and KPIs to continuously improve business segment performance
• Tracks progress of dept performance by evaluating key operating indicators; sample costs, cost components, and excess inventory.
• Coordinates and works closely with Production and Cost Accounting teams
• Prepares financial presentations (internal and external).
• Business partnering across key management leadership team to translate strategic direction for design and development into financial forecasts and budgets
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding timelines, costs, quantities, production capacities and output rates in order to incorporate data points into financial analysis.
• Actively contribute in product development and costing meetings
• Provides information for “ad hoc” requests as necessary

• Strong financial modeling skills with an expert grasp of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to turn complex financial information into Board ready presentations to support decision making, planning and investment strategies in PowerPoint.

• Additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor related to your position/department
• Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary

Education/Experience:
• BA degree or equivalent experience with a medium size manufacturing/consumer goods company; Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar
• 4+ years of relevant experience and proficiency in financial analysis, GAAP/IFRS accounting, budgeting, factory accounts, and performance measurement
• Retail / Consumer Product & Manufacturing experience required
