The Opportunity
We are currently looking to fill a combination role for a Room Service Server/Buffet Attendant to join our team at our Hotel Karlan San Diego property.

Job Duties: In this role, you’ll be responsible for greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explaining all specials, promotions and food items on the menu
• Setting up the buffet line before guests arrive for breakfast
• Displaying food and beverages in an organized and attractive manner
• Cleaning the area around the buffet by wiping, sweeping, and/or mopping
• Frequently checking the buffet line to ensure that there is an appropriate amount of food available
• Replenishing the buffet with food, beverages and/or supplies as needed
• Maintaining cleanliness of buffet area
• Disposing of used plates, utensils, napkins and/or cups as necessary
• Removing and disposing of leftover food at the end of breakfast
• Cleaning buffet area according to established standards
• Ensuring inventory is stocked and properly stored for next shift
• Delivering food to guest rooms
• Ensuring that all orders are accurate prior to leaving the room service kitchen
• Memorizing the room service menu and food preparation methods as to better serve the guest
• Communicating professionally with hospitality agents and cooks regarding room service
• Being courteous to guests and accommodating any requests for items not listed on the room service menu
• Completing daily side work including the pick-up and break down of all room service equipment from guest rooms and hotel hallways
• Expediting room service deliveries by helping fellow employees setup and complete their orders when needed
• Cleaning and breaking down trays in the dish area
• Delivering food to guest rooms
• Ensuring that proper payment is received from guest prior to leaving their room and that all payments are properly tracked and managed
• Supporting other areas of the restaurant as necessary
• Demonstrating the Evolution Hospitality Values and Guiding Principles

Job Requirements
A Room Service Server/Buffet Attendant has exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent service. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

• Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
• Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
• Possess a basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
• Must be willing and have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, holidays and weekends
• Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 50 pounds through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around during entire shift
Must have the ability to communicate in English, clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice
• Must have a valid alcohol awareness certification and a valid Certified Food Handlers Card
• Perform other duties as assigned
